The galleries at the University of New Jersey specialize primarily in contemporary art, but the permanent collection contains 700 African and 350 Oceanic works, most donated from the Joan and Gordon Tobias Collection. Thematic exhibitions of this material are held periodically, but the collection is usually in storage. It is accessible to researchers by appointment.
