The Triton Museum of Art was founded by rancher, lawyer and art patron W. Robert Morgan in 1965. Two years later it moved to its present location in Santa Clara. The current building opened in 1987.
The museum hosts changing exhibitions of contemporary art. Its only permanent gallery is dedicated to the Native American art collection of Austen D. Warburton, a Santa Clara attorney and active community member who passed away in 1995 and bequeathed his entire 2,268-object collection to the museum. The installation features 170 objects, including some fine examples of Anasazi pottery.
