The Textile Museum of Canada’s permanent collection contains more than 10,000 textiles and spans almost 2,000 years and 190 world regions. This diverse collection includes fabrics, ceremonial cloths, garments, carpets, quilts, and related artifacts that reflect the ethnographic, cultural and aesthetic significance that cloth has held over the centuries. Included in its collection are more than 1,000 textiles from Africa; a substantial collection from Indonesia, largely acquired in the 1980s; and material from both the pre- and post-contact Americas.
