The Anthropological Museum of the University of Nijmegen houses a collection of more than 10,000 objects in its reserves. These consist mainly of material from Southeast Asia and Oceania. In addition to its own collection, which is largely made up of material acquired for university research projects, the museum has the Beijens collection of the City of Nijmegen. It also has collections formed by various missionary orders, including the Capucins, Jesuits, and Augustines. The museum’s collections are of fine quality and include, among other things, Dayak shields and textiles from Borneo and Batak staffs from Sumatra.
The museum’s storage is particularly well organized and easily accessible to the public by request. The institution organizes several exhibitions every year to illustrate and present the results of research done by the department of anthropology.
