The Musée régional de la Côte-Nord was created in 1976 to showcase the archaeological and ethnological heritage of the North Shore as well as its natural sciences. It also exhibits works by local and other Canadian and foreign artists. Its collection contains more than 40,000 objects, nearly a thousand of which relate to the indigenous populations of the region north of the Saint-Laurent River. Many of these come from the collection of Paul Provencher and that of the Eudistes Fathers, whose mission was established in the region in 1903.
