The Musée Niépce is one of the oldest museums devoted to photography and its history. Since 1861, it has assembled images, personal possessions, and the world’s first cameras used by Nicéphore Niépce, the inventor of photography. The museum’s collections include nearly 6,000 devices and optical objects and more than 2 million images. Among them are several hundred photographs relating to ethnography and exploration.
