Created in 1896, this museum has important ethnographic reserves that include 200 Oceanic and 500 African objects. The Oceanic collection consists primarily of the material gifted by the family of Admiral Gourdon, who was in the South Seas in 1885. It includes a New Caledonia bone repository, one of only three examples known. The African collection consists primarily of material from Congo and Côte d’Ivoire. The museum has undergone a recent renovation and accessibility may be limited.
