Museums - Musée du Vieux Cimetière

In 1893, the Cercle Royal d’Histoire et d’Archéologie of the canton of Soignies acquired the chapel space at the old local cemetery, a building from the Roman period, and converted it into a display area for finds made by its members in the course of their archaeological digs. Since then, the collections have been augmented by various and diverse objects, often of historical importance, among which a small group of African pieces is worthy of note.
The objects are mainly weapons from the former Belgian Congo, as well as some shields and pottery. This collection has not yet been inventoried, but it is on permanent display.
