Devoted to the history of relations between France and America since the sixteenth century, this museum of art and history is located in the Hôtel Fleuriau, formerly the residence of wealthy ship outfitters who, in addition to their vessels, owned a plantation in Santo Domingo. The museum’s collections have been acquired since 1978 and enriched by loans from the Musée National des Arts d’Afrique et d’Océanie in Paris. The ethnographic collections include a variety of North American Indian objects.
