The Musée d’Auch, which opened December 16, 1793, is one of the oldest museums in France. It is located in a former Jacobin convent and presents collections of medieval art, Pre-Columbian art, sacred Latin American art, art of the American Southwest, and folk art from Gascogne. The pre-Hispanic objects are made up primarily of an important collection of Peruvian objects from the Moche, Chimu, Nazca, and Chancay cultures, as well as Mexican pieces from the Huaxtec, Aztec, and Tiahuanaco cultures.
