The goal of this local museum is to collect, preserve, and study the material products of the cultures, ethnic groups, and traditional societies of Guyana. It is a repository for testimonies to know-how threatened with disappearance and it presents its objects as part of a mission to exhibit Guyanese cultural patrimony to the public. Its archaeological and ethnographic collections are from ancient and contemporary New World societies.
