In 1982, the important collection of Yvonne Guégan was donated to the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Caen. The objects were collected by Louis Petit (1856–1943), the donor’s grandfather, during his stay in the Congo between 1876 and 1883 and during an expedition to Mayoumba in Gabon, where he collected a group of thirteen masks. Also noteworthy are four Yoruba masks from Nigeria, acquired by the donor herself, as well as spears, masks, and musical instruments from the Fang, Sango, Tsogo, Lumbo, Vili, Tsangi, and Ngbaka. Unfortunately, due to limited resources, the museum is currently unable to exhibit this group of some 140 objects.
