This museum houses a collection of weapons from Africa, Asia, and Oceania. The African pieces were the 1856 gift of Dr. Répin, Navy surgeon at Abomey; of Casimir Poupli in 1835; and of Edmond Papin, who donated some 150 objects (see Tribal Arts, IV:4, March 1998). A small collection of North American Indian objects assembled in the second half of the nineteenth century is also worthy of mention.
