The Musée Barrois' ethnographic collection has been on display since 1994. Objects on view from Africa include pieces from Mali and Gabon. The museum's Oceanic holdings came from the Muséum de Zoologie de Nancy in 1967, and include objects from the Solomon and Admiralty Islands, and New Guinea, as well as a Marquesas Islands drum and a New Caledonian apouama mask. South America is represented by gifts from local collectors. These include a superb Taino funerary urn, which the museum acquired in 1850, and a Jívaro shrunken head. Objects from Vietnam, Tibet, and Islamic countries are also on view.
