The Musée de Dieppe, a town known for its ivory work, has an important collection of pre-Columbian pottery brought to Europe in the nineteenth century by Gustave Rouland. The museum’s holdings have recently been enriched by the Marbeau-Bril Collection of seventy-two wooden and ceramic pieces from Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Peru, and Guatemala. It also houses fine African and Oceanic collections, which are not on view except during temporary exhibitions.
