Museums - Beard and Weil Galleries, Wheaton College

Wheaton College has no actual museum, but the Beard and Weil Galleries feature rotating exhibitions of contemporary art and exhibitions based on works in the permanent art collection. The collection is housed in Watson Fine Arts, which was renovated in February 2002. The Native American and African basket collection includes seventy (primarily Native American) baskets and related objects collected by Dr. Eleanor Kilham, class of 1876. There are also a small number of pre-Columbian sculptures and a variety of other Native American baskets that were donated by alumni over the years. Works in storage may be seen by appointment between September and May.
